Christmas past and New Year future...

It's that time of the year that I dread. The after Christmas-right before New Year's Eve week.
Why?
Because all the cheer and joy of Christmas is over and people are putting away their decorations and we are left in the dark...literally! With it getting dark at 5:00pm at our house - it's so depressing to look out and not see these beautiful lights cheering us up when we feel down.

Most of us will have spent Christmas with extended family or have traveled and been away from our own homes for a week or so. It's a lonely and depressing time for some of us. I get depressed when all the beautiful decorations are packed up and we are traveling home to a place where we have no family close by. It's like I don't want to go home but then again I can't wait to be home. I love spending time with my mom in Kentucky but I would much rather her move to Auburn to be there with us. I am needing to put down roots and according to my hubby - Auburn is where we are rooting for a long time to come.

For me the hardest part is not having real close friends to share these lows with - no accountability partner that can stop by the house and drag me out for a coffee just because. No one I can call and pour out my heart to that is within a 15 minute drive to my house.
I have a best friend, but she is 9 hours away!
I have a great friend who prays for me and understands and listens to me when I need a shoulder to cry on, but she is 8.5 hours away.

CONFESSION TIME: I AM A PEOPLE PERSON! I like to have people hanging out with us. I like to entertain. I like to be social.
We are building friendships with people in Auburn but we are praying for some close friends who will do life with us and in turn we will do life with them. I feel like in the past we have been spoiled (especially in Georgetown!) by meeting and getting to know some fantastic Godly people who weren't afraid to get into the "camel hairy-ness" of truly doing life together.

I am praying for Godly resolutions this year! That He will send us a couple who will be our accountability partners and who will be there to hold us up when we are down and celebrate with us in the highs.
I truly desire to be involved with a life-changing church that is reaching people for God. I am praying that 2011 will bring with it an answer to our prayers for finding a church home that we feel at home. A place where we can serve and find our place.
Praying for a light within that will chase out all the darkness.
"take your candle, and go light your world"...praying for a Happy New Year!
